British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.) was formed by Martyn Ware and Ian Marsh when they left the Human League. Groove Thang was released on the 1980 instrumental collection "Music for Stowaways" available on cassette only. The track included mixed down vocals from Glenn Gregory, who would later join Ware and Marsh in Heaven 17. The track was re-recorded as "(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang" which took Heaven 17 to #45 in the UK charts despite being banned by the BBC. Read more on Last.fm.

British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.) is a transition project of Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh from The Human League to Heaven 17. Ware and Marsh were the major creative force behind the original Human League which was a milestone for the Dark Electro-Industrial sound that came a few years later with (DAF, FRONT 242, THE KLINIK, etc.) B.E.F.'s sound was very cold and experimental which could be closely compared to THE FUTURE project that Ware and Marsh had (prior to the Human League) with Adi Newton (later of Clock DVA.) B.E.F. was almost instantly transformed into Heaven 17 after Glenn Gregory joined the group. Equally with the change of the name came a change of the sound. Read more on Last.fm.
